The Courtyard
The fine, square, cobbled courtyard at Newbridge was designed by Robert Mack and built around 1790 after the completion of the main house.
The buildings surrounding the courtyard originally housed a blacksmith’s forge, threshing barn, hay barn, pig sty, weigh house, chicken house, slaughter house, swill house, bull pen and bleaching yard, as well as horse stables, fowl houses and the vinery.
Nowadays, the courtyard acts as the entry point to the traditional farm, as well as home to our Courtyard Meeting Room and the Donabate Historical Society.
