We are looking for a skilled Maintenance worker with Carpentry skills to perform upkeep tasks such as repairs and event prop building. You will be responsible for applying basic fixes to equipment and building systems and ensure facilities are tidy and function. The position will also include painting, fix plumbing issues etc. and any other maintenance tasks that may arise.

The ideal candidate should have Carpentry skills and be adept to cut, fabricate and install wooden and other structures according to specifications. Your job will entail working in diverse settings to produce steady and functional props for events. Working with little supervision while following all health and safety standards is essential.

Being reliable with a keen eye for detail is the first step to getting this job. The ideal candidate will have experience and solid technical knowledge. You must also possess manual dexterity and physical stamina.

Required

  • Proven experience as carpenter with good knowledge of wood properties and other carpentry materials.
  • Excellent understanding of carpentry techniques and methods of installation and construction
  • Proficient in using electrical and manual equipment and measurement tools (powered saws, hammers, rulers etc.)
  • Willingness to always follow safety guidelines
  • Good knowledge of English
  • Good understanding of basic math
  • Good physical condition and endurance
  • Must be flexible to travel between sites and available to work weekends as required

 

Responsibilities

  • Take measurements and calculate the size and amount of material needed to complete a task
  • Carve and assemble items and install them where designated
  • Inspect places and conduct repairs or maintenance
  • Perform minor fixes such as repairing broken locks, filling gaps on walls etc.
  • Check control panels and electrical wiring to identify issues
  • Install appliances and equipment
  • Conduct maintenance tasks such as replacing light bulbs
  • Inspect and troubleshoot equipment and systems (e.g. ventilation)
  • Check functionality of safety systems (e.g. fire alarm)
  • Collaborate with workers and other professionals during works carried out by external suppliers.
  • Report issues to a facilities or maintenance manager
